چکیده

The bispectrum B(k1, k2, k3), the three-point function of density fluctuations in Fourier space, is the lowest order statistic that carries information about the spatial coherence of large-scale structures. For Gaussian initial conditions, when the density fluctuation amplitude is small (δ ≪ 1), tree-level (leading order) perturbation theory predicts a characteristic dependence of the bispectrum on the shape of the triangle formed by the three wave vectors. This configuration dependence provides a signature of gravitational instability, and departures from it in galaxy catalogs can be interpreted as due to bias, that is, non-gravitational effects. On the other hand, N -body simulations indicate that the reduced three-point function becomes relatively shapeindependent in the strongly non-linear regime (δ ≫ 1). In order to understand this non-linear transition and assess the domain of reliability of shapedependence as a probe of bias, we calculate the one-loop (next-to-leading order) corrections to the bispectrum in perturbation theory. We compare these results with measurements in numerical simulations with scale-free and Cold Dark Matter initial power spectra. We find that the one-loop corrections account very well for the departures from the tree-level results measured in numerical simulations on weakly non-linear scales (δ <∼ 1). In this regime, the reduced bispectrum qualitatively retains its tree-level shape, but the amplitude can change significantly. At smaller scales (δ >∼ 1), the reduced bispectrum in the simulations starts to flatten, an effect which can be partially understood from the one-loop results. In the strong clustering regime, where perturbation theory breaks down entirely, the simulation results confirm that the reduced bispectrum has almost no dependence on triangle shape, in rough agreement with the hierarchical ansatz. Cosmological Perturbations: Entering the Non-Linear Regime

We consider one-loop corrections (non-linear corrections beyond leading order) to the bispectrum and skewness of cosmological density fluctuations induced by gravitational evolution, focusing on the case of Gaussian initial conditions and scale-free initial power spectra, P (k) ∝ k. As has been established by comparison with numerical simulations, tree-level (leading order) perturbation theory ...

Resumming Cosmic Perturbations

Renormalization Group (RG) techniques have been successfully employed in quantum field theory and statistical physics. Here we apply RG methods to study the non-linear stages of structure formation in the Universe. Exact equations for the power spectrum, the bispectrum, and all higher order correlation functions can be derived for any underlying cosmological model. A remarkable feature of the R...

Non-Gaussianity in braneworld and tachyon inflation

We calculate the bispectrum of single-field braneworld inflation, triggered by either an ordinary scalar field or a cosmological tachyon, by means of a gradient expansion of large-scale non-linear perturbations coupled to stochastic dynamics. The resulting effect is identical to that for single-field 4D standard inflation, the nonlinearity parameter being proportional to the scalar spectral ind...

Cosmological Perturbations and Non-Gaussianities in Hořava-Lifshitz Gravity

We investigate cosmological perturbations and non-gaussianities in Hořava-Lifshitz theory of gravitation. In the UV limit, the scalar perturbation in Hořava theory is naturally scale-invariant, ignoring the details of the expansion of the universe. Thus one may relax the exponential inflation and the slow-roll conditions for the inflaton field. Moreover, in the absence of slow-roll conditions, ...

Quasilinear evolution of compensated cosmological perturbations: The nonlinear sigma model.

We consider the evolution of perturbations to a flat FRW universe that arise from a “stiff source,” such as a self-ordering cosmic field that forms in a global symmetry-breaking phase transition and evolves via the Kibble mechanism. Although the linear response of the normal matter to the source depends on the details of the source dynamics, we show that the higherorder non-linear perturbative ...
